There are many things in life that can take our attention. There are so many worthy pursuits in life that fill our time. For me my work in engineering is very rewarding. It pays me well and I find great satisfaction in completing work and guiding those under me to achieving their best.
Photography is another pursuit that gives me much satisfaction. I like to capture things of beauty and interest. I like to give people joy through the recording of important memories. That is why I enjoy working with my wife Julie in her photography business. Being able to provide good quality images at affordable prices is important to us.
Even though those two pursuits are important and worthwhile, when I break it down I only do these because of an even greater pursuit in my life. My kids. They take up so much of my time. They fill my life with joy. They fill my life with challenges. Having children has transformed my life and produced a focus outside of myself. I cannot imagine living without them. My marriage is amplified by them. My self value is boosted by them.
I love my kids and enjoy everyday with them. They provide me much joy and pride. Each one of them is a special gift from God and I am so grateful.
The picture above was taken during our recent holiday to Portland Victoria. For all my efforts this is a rare example where all three are looking at the camera. Not unsurprisingly they can get a bit jaded of the camera so their minds can tend to wander a bit making photography a bit more challenging. But they are beautiful and worth the effort.
